Just Say No to Nametags

     Name tag? No Way! Any step (however trivial) towards a greater seperation of worker and consumer must be fought as if the world depended on it. Resistance is our responsibility. The world we want to see is not going to fall into our lap of its own accord. The possibility of its fulfillment, however small, is a legacy of freedom fighters and sacrifices of ages past and is
our inheritance. The freedom to live and work unrestricted, creatively, and spontaneously is ours if we will fight.

Just livin and just workin…..aren’t they one and the same? Should your work not be an extension of life itself? Satisfaction and fulfillment are at stake and all around us an artificial division is allowed to be enforced. Name tags and manufactured greetings create an invisible wall dehumanizing every interaction, reducing the possibilities of each encounter to a monetary exchange. Business transactions stealing away the connections that approach us during the part of our day when our labor is for sale. Making us lose the part of ourselves that is real in service to an image of service perfection that truly exists nowhere. Take out your facial piercing and cover those tattoos! More please and thank you when you swipe that card! If there is nothing to do just make it look like you’re working because the Image is more important than the reality. Can’t we be who we truly are? Sometimes it can make you want to just grab everyone by the shoulders and yell “Wake Up!!! Let’s keep it real here!” For deep down, that itch for freedom of self-expression lives in all of us, even the most submissive costumer service slaves, and to bring it out we need free atmospheres and situations. Ones not ruled by corporate profit motives and hazy hierarchy management worries and aspirations. We cannot submit our dreams to a machine. We must fight to keep just working and just livin one and the same. The veneer of costumer service not only adds a layer of plasticity to every smile, it seems to drain the vitality of youth. Where is the energy drawing to? The heart of a profit-driven machine? Why is there a separation between work and life?

Just workin and still livin..that’s the only way…We can submit to no plastic management worker bee role-playing. We’ve got to KEEP IT REAL. If it ain’t real than it ain’t worth our time…We’re building a world of dreams and are taking no prisoners. Freedom is non-negotiable.

Adjusting the Visions

     It can be hard keeping free of the chains of Babylon while trying to keep living in the path of truth and rights. Livin’ right, livin’ true, just livin’, but still livin’ in the surrounding shadow of a culture obsessed with HDTV and cell phone upgrades. A static background noise surrounds us softly whispering to us to forget our dreams and buy, consume, join the machine…Watch the dream on television but definitely don’t pursue it yourself! Look at all the lonely people! An army of dreamers trading the dream for the image, bought off by stuff, gadgets gizmos and junk, the “necessities”
of modern life. Just Living refuses to submit to these images, the artifacts of a culture of excess and obesity, a civilization in decadent decline. As cycles continue their path and we watch another sun set on empire, below the surface, the healthy current of strength that has sustained life for millions of years is still alive and pulsing to the beat of a secret drummer. It exists in a place beyond the work-a-day nine to five commuter traffic sports news spectacle of our modern reality, in a place where history can be banished for the endless possibilities of the moment. A place where the true thrill of life is so strong and present that we have no choice but to truly participate in the magic of eternity. Just Living is bringing this moment into the Here and Now, living and being as if the very world depended on it. And it truly does depend on every one of us! Everybody’s got to be that light under the sun! Just Living is taking a stand for what we really want in life and actually finding the courage to pursue it. Just Living will never submit to the world of corporate zombies and glazed-eye plastic service smiles.
